Martin Smith, Delirious?
Martin Smith is the lead singer of the popular Christian band 'Delirious?
Q What was the most disrespectful thing you did as a teenager? A I would forget to phone home for weeks...
Q What were you most proud of doing when you were younger? A Singing on TV on the BBC ‘song for Christmas’ when I was 16 and having to sing the song at my school assembly in front of my mates.
Q Who do you respect musically? A U2, Mike Skinner, Switchfoot, Radiohead, loads of others!
Q What were you like at school? A Very sporty, I played cricket for my county Essex under 16s. I struggled with being a normal kid and being a Christian. I went to an all boys school so never really got too distracted by girls!
Q What is the worst piece of advice you have been given? A Best advice was from our first producer who told me to keep the song copyrights, this has enabled us, as a band, to do loads more. Worst advice - Someone I respected told me I should go solo, they were very wrong.
Q Who would you most like to throw a custard pie at (in a respectful way, of course)? A The editor who wrote the article in the Daily Telegraph "by 2040 the church in England will be dead".
Q Which public figure do you have the most time for? A Bob Geldof, Darlene Zschech, Bono, Andrew Flintoff!
Q What is the most irritating thing people do? A Feel sorry for themselves.
Q Who has inspired you most as a Christian? A In terms of my music a man named Kevin Prosch, he showed the way and gave me a belief that music was a weapon. On a personal level my wife Anna, she has a light inside of her that I've not seen before.
