Carwyn Hill

Carwyn HillHaving met a Baptist Pastor from Haiti and learned of a desperate need for a hospital, Carwyn has been the prime mover in founding the Haiti Hospital Appeal.  At considerable personal cost, Carwyn visited Haiti to see for himself the dire conditions.

He took with him a friend and another Deacon from his own Church who had relevant building experience.  The experience drove him on to found the Appeal, which is currently awaiting the granting of charitable status.

Carwyn has sought appropriate advice and expertise, formed a board of trustees and applied for charitable status.  He has set up a website - www.haitihospitalappeal.com and undertaken several successful fundraising events.  He has also co-written a play based on his experiences in Haiti.

Carwyn is currently organising a group to go to Haiti in October/November to renovate a building as the first stage of providing a proper hospital having raised sufficient funds for this stage.  All this has been done whilst studying for a university degree as a full time student, also using his 'spare' time to work with disabled children and discharge his church responsibilities.

Carwyn's actions are bringing hope and help to many people who desperately need it.  At present, many people, including children, suffer and die for the lack of simple, cheap medicines. Carwyn is seeking to show respect to the Haitians and help to restore respect and dignity to those who have lost it, often through no fault of their own.

Carwyn has shown passionate commitment and courage in visiting Haiti and founding the Haiti Hospital Appeal.  He was shocked seeing the dire conditions of the present hospital and the extreme poverty and depravation of the country.  Particularly distressing was seeing a child dead on a hospital bed, solely because of the lack of simple medicine.  The new hospital will serve one million people.  Many have lost hope, dignity and their self-respect.  Carwyn is passionate about restoring these lost qualities and enabling these Haitians to live, and even die, with dignity and respect.
